Why This Project Exists
Luxury Has No Scent™ is an educational project owned and published by Luxury Has No Scent LLC. The site explains how fragranced products and intentional scenting affect shared air, health, and access—and why Clean Air is the True Luxury.
A Note from the Founder
This project began with lived experience.
Fragrance can trigger respiratory symptoms and migraines for me. Reactions began with air fresheners and now extend to perfume, laundry and cleaning products, candles, ambient scenting, and more.
I’m not alone. Online communities connect many people living with fragrance and chemical sensitivities, each with different triggers, symptoms, and experiences.
Early in my career, I worked on Wall Street as an investment banker. I’ve always been drawn to numbers and analysis, so I approached fragrance the same way: I turned to the research.
This site grew from that need to understand. I've found validation in the science, but even more in the company of many others like me.
Living with this sensitivity has taught me that Clean Air is the True Luxury.

Why the dog?
Pets share our air and may inhale fragrance emissions, absorb residues, or ingest them while grooming. Candles, diffusers, air fresheners, essential oils, and some fragrance oils can pose particular concerns for cats and birds.
To protect pets, Clean Air is the True Luxury.

Total n = 4435), found that, 32.2% of adults (34.7%, 33.0%, 27.8%, 33.1%, respectively) report adverse health effects from fragranced consumer products. Surveys were conducted in 2016/2017. "Health effects from exposure to fragranced products can be considered disabling, according to legislative criteria that define disability in each country (ADAAA 2008; DDA 1992; EA 2010; DA 2008). Across the four countries, 9.5% of the general population, representing 29.1% of fragrance sensitive individuals (49.5% US, 17.1% AU, 25.5% UK, 24.2% SE), report health effects that can be considered disabling (Table 3)."
